6 HOUR ICE RACE AT MOOSE LAKE
In place of the cancelled 2011 Numb Bum, there will be a 6 Hour Ice Race, which will be held on February 20th at Moose Lake (Bonnyville).

2011 NUMB BUM 24 HOUR RACE CANCELLED
To whom it may concern,
I have the regret to inform you that the "Pembina Dirt Riders 2010 Association" will be cancelling the 2011 Numb Bum 24 hr Ice Race that was scheduled for Feb. 19-20th at Sandy Lake due to poor/dangerous ice conditions and excessive flood water. We are very disappointed at the outcome here, but are forced to cancel in the interest of public safety.
Looking forward to again host next year's Numb Bum for the 2012 season.
Sincerely,
Dan Cheron "PDRA 2010" Numb Bum Event Manager

FEBRUARY 6th ICE RACE CANCELLED
Just informing everyone that the Fairview Motocross Association will be cancelling the 6hr Ice race that was scheduled for Feb. 6th at George Lake due to extremely dangerous ice conditions. We are very dissapointed at the outcome here but are forced to cancell in the interest of public safety. I hope that we can keep in touch and get this going again for next year. We were very excited with the local sponsorship and volunteer power that was drum up for the event. I look forward to seeing everyone at the G.P. race.
Thanks,

#2 DNF RULE
For safety reasons, the AEIRA board of directors have amended the #2 DNF rule for bonus points to finishers, as it is full of loopholes! This new rule will not be applied to the updated rule book for the following reasons:
- A team may voluntary claim having a false break down, just to salvage more points by finishing the race.
- This rule will allow the same team to get away from the initial DNF rules about receiving points only if they have completed 50% of the winners laps, since they will be finishing (any teams that finish are entitled to received points, regardless the amount of laps completed).
- There is no way a ref can verify the claimed break down (we as refs will not take a potentially damage machine on the track, just to verify if it is cripple).
- Mainly, and it is a safety issue, we may end up with one or many teams that will take until the end of the race to complete the initial lap that the break down occurred, so they can then push their machine across the finish line on the final lap. That would mean they would received their bonus points, on top their respectable points, making the 50% rule ineffective.
- If 4 teams were to push their machines on the track, 4 refs would have to follow them with yellow flags, leaving only 1 or 2 refs to pay attention to the finish line, and other issues in the race (we just don't have that many refs).
- It is unfair for the quad guys that are racing in the metal class, as it is lot harder to push a quad then a bike.
At AEIRA, your safety is our first concern!!!
Sorry for any inconveniences.
Sincerely,
AEIRA board of directors

RULE CHANGE
The following rule change was adopted at the AGM to reward a team after fixing and finishing the race on a cripple machine.
- New at the 24 hrs only - teams that make the decision to make a "bike swap " will be penalized 2 HRS (instead of 1 hr) after the dead machine has been pushed/pulled back to the pits and the referee has performed an inspection.
|
QUAD CLASS CHANGE PASSED AT AGM!
New Class to be Quad Pro: Top seven teams from previous year and any top performers that did not race entire series.
Quad : 8th place team and down, rookie teams, iron man teams.
Note: Any team may approach the board members to be moved from one class or another at the beginning of the season and
any team is subject to being moved up by the board during the season if required. If a team is moved between classes all
points are lost.

New Class at Numb Bum for the 6 hour teams!
Due to the cancellation of several 6hr races,
the PDRA will introduce a new class for those that do not have lights
and the setup to run a full 24 hour race. "THE RED EYE
CLASS" will ride from the start till dusk, then the marshals
will pull them out at the same time (lap). Then in the morning when
the sun comes up, they will enter the race again till the end of the
24 hour race!!! The entry fee will be $80.00 which is the same as 2x
6hrs. The competing teams will still need a transponder and a CMRC
license. (as they did for the 6hrs) These teams will get a free t-shirt
and finishing plaque. AME MAGAZINE will be sponsoring
trophies for the top 3 teams as well. Please Note, this Red Eye Class
is not for points in the AEIRA series, this is just an opportunity
for those who want to race but were unable due to the cancellation
of Buck Lake and Telford Lake.

13 Buck Lake Cancelled
The February 13th
Buck Lake ice race has been cancelled due to thin ice. Please spread
the word to whom this may concern. Ice holes had been drilled throughout
the week to ensure ice thickness, but on Saturday a Bobcat broke
through the ice near the lap count area.
At this time, the
Numb Bum is still a go! Ice tests will be done on Monday and reports
will be available on aeira.com

A
Message From Jim Burrows. Re: Telford Lake Cancellation
Hello Riders:
I have had to make
a decision on the Leduc Telford 6hr and the race, unfortunately, will
not go as planned for Feb. 13/05.
The NASCC (Northern Alberta Sports Car Club) and the AEIRA
were to hold a joint event and this shall be the first year in 16
years that they or the AEIRA have been unable to hold an event because
of numerous unforeseen circumstances.
The AEIRA has become a large club and the turnout at all
of our events proves that. I would like to see this trend continue
as this season continues and hope for the best for all other races
in the schedule.
Thanks to all the sponsors and the riders and good luck
this season everyone!!!
If there are any questions or concerns please feel free
to contact me @ 780-980-5386
Regards
Jim Burrows
